How well do we work within a design team? “Ed (Rimmel of Turner and Townsend) and Steve (Saxton) were a pleasure to work with and they worked well with Craig Pugh of MMS... I will gladly work with T&T and JPA again, and want to thank everyone involved for putting it all together.”

Jeff Holmes, Head of Facilities Management, English Heritage

What makes us different?

Rather than provide a simple design service we endeavour to add value to the project we are involved in:

Early Involvement
Early involvement at the inception of a project is critical if we are to assist in ‘designing out’ the need for costly and complex mechanical and electrical systems. The capital cost savings that result are then available to be invested in the building fabric and enhance the building for the occupier. Such involvement invariably means lower energy bills and reduced maintenance costs.

Help with Building Regulations Compliance
Having been involved with BRE on a case study for the new iSBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model) software used to test compliance with the new building regulations Part L 2006, we are well placed to help.
The iSBEM software can be used before detailed design is complete to model the project and optimise the building form and fabric to ensure maximum comfort for occupants, and to reduce capital and running costs.

Free Design Advice
Through the Carbon Trust we can provide advice and support on how to reduce energy use. This government supported initiative provides free consultations during the design and construction of new buildings or the refurbishment of existing buildings.

Environmental Assessments
Our BREEAM assessors (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) will evaluate how ‘sustainable’ a project is under this landmark methodology. We present the results in an easy to understand format and provide advice on how to improve the performance of your building and increase the BREEAM rating in the most effective way.

Energy Labelling
The European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) will require that all buildings are labelled to indicate how energy efficient they are, very much like domestic appliances. The methodology is yet to be laid down by government but we will provide full support to our clients in this area once the system has been refined.
