SOLUTIONS FOR ARCHITECTS
As building design becomes more holistic, the collaboration between Architects and Building Services Engineers becomes more important, and commences at the very beginning of the life of a project. Our philosophy at JPA is to assist Architects to “design out” complex, costly and space consuming services wherever this is possible, by assisting to design the form and the fabric of the building to employ passive environmental methods.
Early involvement in a design team in this way assists with ensuring that schemes comply with the necessary legislation or environmental scoring systems, and ensures good co-ordination of the services installations with the building fabric.
We can not emphasis too much the importance of becoming involved in projects at the earliest possible time, to enable us to add value to the project in many areas, some of which are identified below:
- ‘Designing out' active services systems where possible
- Co-ordination
- Holistic building design
- Timeliness of delivery
- Current and upcoming regulations
- Sustainable and low energy design
- Thermal Modelling
- Budget Costing
- Acoustics
- BREEAM
- Expert Advice
- DQI (Design Quality Indicator)
- Providing advice early in the design stage on how to maximise building's performance under BREEAM and Ecohomes schemes without excessive cost.
