Julia Martin-Woodbridge: Qualified Assessor for The Code for Sustainable Homes

Another member of JPA’s Sustainability team has received an industry accreditation. Julia Martin-Woodbridge has achieved ‘Competent Person’ status and is now recognised as a Code for Sustainable Homes Qualified Assessor.

The Code for Sustainable Homes, which has superseded EcoHomes, was launched by the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) and went ‘live’ on 10th April 2007. It is based on BRE's Environmental Assessment Method for housing, with mandatory performance levels set in key areas. The Code aims to protect the environment by providing guidance on the construction of high performance homes designed with sustainability in mind.

The Competent Persons Scheme sets out the requirements of BRE (Building Research Establishment) for the provision of on-going independent third party assessments and certification of licensed Code Assessors.

Julia successfully completed the two day training course held at BRE’s headquarters in Watford and then passed the Code Assessor examination. She is now able to offer clients advice and guidance to clients on compliance with the Code for Sustainable Homes, as well as acting as an accredited assessor alongside JPA’s other assessor; Dianne Bowles.
