Jim Quay initially trained as a design engineer with Davie & McCulloch Consulting Engineers, Glasgow, before gaining his degree in Environmental Engineering. Jim continued to rise through the ranks at Davie & McCulloch from Senior Design Engineer to Associate Partner, Partner and finally Senior Partner.
During this time gaining the widest range of experience in mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering. Projects involving heating, ventilation, air conditioning, steam and condensate, compressed air, domestic hot and cold water services, medical gases, low energy and sustainable design.
Jim has worked on building services design for Central and Local Government Offices, hospitals, courtrooms, schools, universities, hotels, factories, manufacturing facilities, sports complexes, commercial offices, restaurants, colleges, cinemas and airport buildings. He also has experience in low energy design, feasibility studies, surveys, site supervision and Value Engineering Analysis.
Since joining JPA in 1998, Jim has been responsible for engineering team management, design, contract management and execution of projects up to £40m in construction value, covering cinemas, commercial offices, central and local government buildings, schools, universities, aircraft maintenance buildings and industrial buildings. Jim became Managing Director in 2006.
