Environmental Policy
John Packer Associates are Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Design Consultants. We recognise that our work can have positive environmental advantages and are determined to ensure that environmental benefits are strengthened across all of our operations.
In pursuing the best environmental options in our designs and recommendations:-
- We will comply fully with and keep abreast of all legal obligations regarding our operations and require all our employees to act in accordance with our environmental policy.
- We will ensure that projects under our control are managed in a way that incorporate assessment of the impact on the environment and takes appropriate action to keep any adverse impact to a minimum.
- We will review our activities on a continuing basis to instigate further improvements as identified, to further reduce our impact on the environment.
- Employ processes and procedures that minimise waste, and recycle the waste that is produced, at local facilities.
- We will use designs that make efficient and environmentally responsible use of resources such as gas, oil, electricity and water and minimise waste production wherever possible.
- We will promote within our operation the environmentally responsible procurement of goods and services and educate and promote this ethos to all employees.
- We maintain a high level of employee awareness through training and the ongoing involvement of senior staff at Director level.
The main responsibility for the implementation of this Policy rests with the Managing Director, but it is stressed that all employees have an important role to play in putting our aims into practice. We will employ the industry tools available to assist in these processes:
- We are Registered Design Advice Consultants and are therefore qualified to carry out consultations for Client’s intending to initiate new build or refurbishment projects, advising on sustainability and energy conservation, waste reduction and recycling etc.
- We are one of the 100 Trailblazers for the Design Quality Indicator scheme administered by the Construction Industry Council. This methodology considers design quality of the building in terms of
Build Quality: Engineering systems, construction
Functionality: Use, access, space
Impact: Performance, urban and social integration, internal environment, form and material, character and innovation.
The principles laid down and assessed in these initiatives have been incorporated in the John Packer Associates Environmental Policy.
